Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi ilfil,
When you say "panoramic" do you mean one-piece? My interpretation of panoramic is the wrap-around style as seen on some Opel Blitz buses and perhaps the very ugly Panhard Dynamique. As far as I know the EHU had, in most cases, a single piece flat windscreen.
Cheers,
Kerry.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
I reckon this is a Wanderer W 11. Would anybody care to confirm or deny please?
What about the two boxes above the front bumper? Do these indicate a particular Kfz sub-type?
John.

Yep, I mean exactly this: single piece windshield. BTW, although those were flat, I see in some references they are qualified also as "wrap around" windshields. Or wnd screens in UK and the Commonwealth
Cheers!

Re: Vehicle identity requests
ilfil,
Thanks, I thought that I was missing something. I know that in the 30s-40s the technology was not that good for producing large curved areas of glass. These days it is everyday, but then it was a major miracle. What we now see as panoramic glass would have been just about impossible back then.
Cheers,
Kerry.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
I agree with you Kerry but the first steps in this direction were made back then in late 30s, although on one-offs only maybe...
Cheers!

Hi all,
Second day in a row I'm fighting with this one and can't ID it. Help, please! Looks somewhat French to me but it is possible I'm far from the truth.
TIA!

Re: Vehicle identity requests
THere is a French connection here too, I reckon.
I think the second vehicle in the convoy is a Berliet - any thoughts please?
I think the first vehicle is American, ex French Army. I cannot identify it though.
John.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi John,
The front vehicle is a Studebaker K, ex-French in all probability. Interestingly it has it's bumper on upside down, the dip should be downwards.
Cheers,
Kerry.

Thanks for reminding me how short is my memory recently! I see 16 May last year it was... Simply great! And all the time now I've thought there is something very familiar in this truck.

Right, the French connection is very strong indeed. The second truck is really Berliet, something from GDR series.
The first truck is Studebaker K25 (but don't ask me why the front bumper is upside down!), and the one behind the Berliet looks to me Matford F917WS.
Apparently all they came from the French army. The only and lonely German in this convoy is Opel Blitz, if I recognized correct the 5th truck in the row.
Cheers!

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Many thanks, Kerry and Ilfil, I hadn't considered it might be a Studebaker...
Closely examining the original print, the fifth truck is indeed an Opel Blitz.
John.
