Hello,
I can say all obscurities about the 1./42 are cleared. I just wonder, why there allways are suggestions these vehicles were Bussing Nag... I have many pictures of them. My (still lving) Grandpa joined this Unit. I suppose he is the last living member of it. Almost all of the unit was destroyed and only few escaped battle of Budapest.

Regards,

Björn

Tom, Hagen von Tronje, I've recently got interested in this topic, but my german is very poor, so I have some questions:
What for were that cable reels used? (simply don't know the translation for "Kommandoleitungen" )
What measuring device is on the image below? Rangefinder?
Have you ever seen any photos of reserve or command vehicles?

Thanks.

This pic shows a 8.8cm Flak 18 Selbstfahrlafette Auf Zugkraftwagen 12t or "Bunkerknacker". The gun had limited elevation and thus could only be used in the ground role. The true dual purpose 88mm mounting on a halftrack was the 8.8cm Flak 37 Selbstfahrlafette auf 18 ton Zugkraftwagen. See this link: http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... &sk=t&sd=a

It's an antiaircraft gun director "Kommandogerät 36" with its 4 meter range finder. A typical 88 flak battery early in the war would also include a sound locator and searchlights. I wonder if the Germans had also mounted some of these two items on VOMAG chassis to have a complete "VOMAGged" 88 Flak battery.
