► Photothread: Luftwaffe vehicles
Re: Luftwaffe vehicles
Kfz72 wooden bodied radio vehicles using e.g. MercedesBenz LG3000 chassis or Krupp L3H63 or H163 variant or Henschell 33. Just what was their purpose in the Luftwaffe, i.e. to whom are they communicating, aircraft or other Luft units on the ground or what ? I wish to find out if they were commonplace at e.g. Luftwaffe fighter, heavy fighter (Me110) and bomber dispersal controlling aircraft movement etc. Seen maybe camouflaged at the dispersal sites along with pilots etc, groundcrew doing maintenance. I havent seen any photos of them there. Maybe each airfield had one over at the main buildings or away from dispersal simply to communicate to headquarters or other airfields but not to aircraft.

Hi Sturm,
True, but I'll stand by it for now. Here's another variant of the 4/23 PS with an even different bumper :

Re: Luftwaffe vehicles
At least some related Hanomag Kurier Typ 11 Ks had a similar bumper:

Unfortunately I cannot access your link, Markus, but the 6/32 PS also has a similar bumper but the louvers, headlamp mounts and wheels don't match.

Re: Luftwaffe vehicles
Thank you Markus,
If we can ID a Kübelwagen variant based on the Kurier that may be it.
