Re: Beute- and Umbauwagen
Hi Sturm:
I think there is no question that your photo is a Bedford MW, but it may be an interesting and rather rare one due to the wheel equipment.
I have seen only one photo with a similar type of road wheel which I am posting here, that has what I would describe as "non-military tyres". In any case, a very good find.

Re: Beute- and Umbauwagen
Hi Sturm 78, hi Bill,
very interesting pic, indeed. In the book "British Military Trucks in Wehrmacht Service" by Jochen Vollert I have found a pic of a Bedford type OXD with the same rims and similra tyres. Interesting is the comment to this pic: "A notable detail on this Bedford OXD 20cwt GS 4x2 is that its original British tyres and rims on the front axle were replaced by German ones. Usually the availability of spare parts for Bedfords was good enough due to the large number that could be used as spare-part donors after Dunkirk, so this was quite a rare occurrence."
Regards
Bert

Hello all,
I think Bill has tempted another out of the woodwork!

Re: Beute- and Umbauwagen
And a last one. I am aware that these three are of the OX/OY models, not the MW as the first, in Sturm's post, but I think the principle is the same.

Re: Beute- and Umbauwagen
Here is an early, Reichswehr period, personnel car of some sort. I am not sure if it a conversion or a purpose-built kubelwagen, but my feeling is for the former.

Re: Beute- and Umbauwagen
Hi Kerry:
The last one looks quite a bit like an early Opel 1.2 liter car. A bit hard to say if it is a one off or purpose built but I tend to agree with you in that it looks like a 2 door sedan or convertible with the front door merely removed rather than styled like the normal Kubels usually are.

Re: Beute- and Umbauwagen
Well Bill, it goes to show that nothing is impossible. Very smart cab construction too, I wonder where it was taken? It has an almost Soviet industrial feel to the background, but I guess most marshalling yards look similar, no matter where.
Many thanks,
Kerry.

Re: Beute- and Umbauwagen
Hi Jose:
The radio van is a 1937/8 pattern Ford of the German type. Notice the headlamps are separate, they were integrated into the fenders/mudguards on the US variants. And thank you for posting the photo, one I have never seen before. The Chevrolet is indeed a 1938 model with a locally built body.
For the moment, I cannot ID the truck in the background. I feel it is a civilian vehicle, beute/impressed but I am not sure.
