Re: Beute- and Umbauwagen
Hi Kerry,
thank You very much for posting these two pics of a really special "Umbau". I have seen some conversions on the Bedford, but not this special one. Thanks again.
Best regards
Bert

My pleasure Bert, I do love these oddities. Here is a 1938 Plymouth as a light truck,

Re: Beute- and Umbauwagen
Agree with Bert, Kerry.
More smashing photos and thanks so much for sharing them.
I will never cease to be amazed at not only the quality but the volume of high quality conversions/rebuilds that the Germans were able to carry out in seemingly multiple areas/fronts. I know that many were built in series in both Germany and France and probably in Holland and Belgium early in the war but a lot of them would have had to been done in the field and all look to be very professionally done.
Please keep these rarities coming.
Bill

Thanks for the kind words gents.
I do not know if this has been posted before, but a Ford "umbau" with the unusual addition of a Balkan cross,
Kerry.

Re: Beute- and Umbauwagen
For me this photo has it all. It is an "umbau" pick-up, it is fitted with a holzgas apparatus, it shows late-war uniforms and the weapons are all captured. A French machine-gun on top and two Stens in the front. All that is missing is a bit of photo quality, and, for me, the identification of the vehicle.

Re: Beute- and Umbauwagen
It has a certain resemblance to a Ford Model CX or the same type built in Germany as the Ford Eifel, though the wheels look a bit British.

Re: Beute- and Umbauwagen
This is the closest I have come, a Salmson S4D which was built from 1934-1938 in this configuration.
I post two photos that show a very strong resemblance. The wheel covers are different, but other photos show the same covers as on the question photo.
Messed up the photos, will try again with another post.

Re: Beute- and Umbauwagen
Too early in the morning, I can't seem to add a photo.
Here is the other one.
Edit: Photo was too large and I missed the message.
