Re: Photothread: Allied Vehicles in German Service
Hi Kerry,
Thanks very much for the very interesting info.
I do have a pic below of a beautiful MG VA sporting a Jersey plate, but I was unsure about the provenance of the Morris.
This pic was taken in St. Helier with Fort Regent in the background.

Czech made Tatra 111 in Wehrmacht service:

Tatra 111 design was well ahead of its time. It featured an air cooled V12 cylinder diesel engine, central tube instead of frame, and fully independent suspension on all three axles, as well as on demand all wheel drive, and mechanical remotely operated differential locks for both rear differentials. These features gave the truck uncommon ability to cross difficult terrain without getting stuck. Due to shortage of steel during WWII, the cabins of early Tatra 111 were made from wood. Two large belt driven fans in front of the engine forced the air through the engine block to facilitate cooling. The Tatra T 111 was developed of the Tatra T 81 in 1943. The central supporting tube was a technical feature which allowed a frameless construction. The first prototype was presented in April 1943. Serial production of the vehicle designated as Tatra Type T 6500/111, which had a payload of 6.35 tons, was started in October 1943. 60 exemplars were finished this year. Beginning in April 1944, the suspension elements were strengthened which lead to an increased payload of 8 tons. The vehicle was now designated Tatra Type T 8000/111. The Tatra T 111 was propelled by a 14.8 litres, 12 cylinder diesel engine with a power of 210 HP. A derivate of this engine was used for the eight-wheel armoured car chassis Type ARK. Early exemplars had a driver’s cab made of sheet steel. The largest part of the ca. 900 finished vehicles had a Holzfahrerhaus made of wood and fibreboard which can be seen on the illustrated photo. Besides the platform lorry, a version with box body was made.

Hi George,
1937 Hudson Terraplane. Not very common in Europe.

Hi George,
You have been presenting some fine American classics lately, such as this 1937 Buick Roadmaster Convertible Sedan. Keep it up!

I think that these two vehicles may be Fodens, the trailers are a mystery, as are the uniforms.

Hi Kerry
Truly hard to say what branch of the Wehrmacht they belong to. An educated guess would be Deutsche Reichsbahn or TENO.
As for the trucks they look to be Foden - wish I could get a clear shot of whats written on side of cab of nearest truck.

Thank you PzIII. Yes, frustrating, but it is a very small and badly exposed photo, no clearer "in hand", sadly.

Kerry.

I know this doesn't help much, but I support the Foden ID.
I believe it is a DG/6/10, the one with dual rear wheels and smaller tyres than the DG/12/10 which had large singles.
The 6/10 also had flat rear wheel arches whereas the 6/12 had raised arches to clear the larger tyres.
My photo is a 6/10 but not identified as such on the photo caption.

Hi Kerry,
I believe the workshop trailers are one of the many subvariants of the Anh. 350 3 tonner.
