Vehicles with unit markings

Discussions on the vehicles used by the Axis forces.
Long-time forum member Ron Klages (1939 - 2007) generously shared his knowledge and the results of his impressive research with the forum, and this section has therefore been renamed in his honour.

Keessmit, That looks to me to be the combination of symbols to indicate the RHQ of a horsed artillery regiment.

Leo, I had of course looked at your site before posting and wasn't happy with the width and flatness of the double arrows in this pic, or the open circle at the top of the symbol, nor the amount of the downward line insiude the rectangle.

Hi all,

on ebay I´ve found a pic with an interesting unit marking, a combination of a Luftwaffe marking with a tank and a bird and the unit marking of the 2. Panzerdivision. Can anybody tell me the unit? Thanks in advance.

george, is there any other information to go with that pic ? The registration number is WL but the man is in Heer uniform, the tactical sign is for a Pionier unit and to mix the tactical sign with a unit symbol is odd.

Hi Alan,

Not so sure that the Kfz 4 crewman is Army, sure his collar patches are Army look-a-likes even RAD style maybe, but his cap is definitely the Luftwaffe pattern and the wing of the cap eagle is also curved, Luftwaffe style.

But cannot help with identification of the unit that used the map of Crete, other than it a Luftwaffe unit, and may well be one that saw action in and around Crete in 1941.

Hello,

My site identifies the Kreta emblem as "Fallschirm-Pionier-Bataillon 1" emblem.

Hi there!
Here are a couple of shots of a Kubelwagen in the Caucasus in 41/43. Does anyone have any idea as to the ID of the insignia that can barely be seen on the left side fender?
