Re: ► Photothread: Vehicles with unit markings
One of the best examples of unit marking for 205 ID I have come across. Thornycroft Nubian

Re: ► Photothread: Vehicles with unit markings
The VW you posted on 16th April is from a Panzer Regiment within 1 Panzer Division. The two DAK Horchs marked 1 and 1a are from Rommel's escort group. I think that the Horch Heavy car is from the Nachrichten Abt 82 of 6 Panzer Divison around the time of Kursk.

Excellent pic but I'm afraid it isn't Nubian, if Thorny at all. The Nubian is much bigger, the windshield slope and the door windows shape aren't the same, the doors are different, etc. Here are two nice factory shots of it, decide for yourself:
Could it be a coachbuilder-cabbed ex-civilian Nippy? The only thing I'm sure is that the front bumper is German upgrade.

Cheers!

Hi ifil
Thanks for the correction - I really should have added a ? with my ID. Is there a possibility that it is an Albion of some sort ?

Re: ► Photothread: Vehicles with unit markings
Hi Pz III,
I have to admit I'm helpless here Too much mysteries
Theoretically on your pic there are two details that may give some hint about the chassis manufacturer: the wheel and the radiator. The wheel is obscured, the radiator is covered So the candidates are many, bearing in mind this could be also a 3-axle chassis
BTW, I've never seen before Notek on the right. Normally on those many captured RHD vehicles, if fitted, it is on its usual place on the left.
It also seems to me the mystery thing is fitted with custom low GS body. If so, I'm afraid we must add to the list of candidates some low frame bus chassis also
So again: I'm helpless, sorry.
Cheers!

Re: ► Photothread: Vehicles with unit markings
Thanks Ilfil for your efforts. I am posting the 2 other pics I have of this vehicle. 2nd pic shows some detail of the front wheel and 1st gives us some info on the under bed/frame fittings. In the 1st pic I would speculate that the back of the truck to the right is another of the same vehicle. I have been thru some other sources on Beute British vehicles and not found even a tentative match. I guess there is a good chance that it is not British although it strongly resembles British design of the time.

It looks vaguely like a French AGK to me but not enough to argue with anyone about it.

Thanks for the new pictures, Pz III!
The thing still has some chances to be British, something on Albion KL127 chassis, for example.
On the other hand, the wheel in the right corner on the first picture doesn't look British But it belongs to another vehicle anyway.
Cheers!
