Sonderarchiv Moscow - Fond 500

#1

Post by E-IV » 17 Oct 2011, 18:02

Hi,
I'd like to request support from someone familiar with - or even with access to - the former KGB-special arquive (Sonderarchiv) in Moscow.
In this archive there is a "Fond 500" which deals with captured files from the Reichssicherheitshauptamt (RSHA). This "Fond 500" includes document #067 which is a 40 pages names' and telephone list (Namensliste und Fernsprechverzeichnisse Amt VI RSHA, 40 Bl.; 1944).
Can anyone adivise how I can get hold of a copy of this list?
Thanks and best regards, E-IV

KGB has nothing to do with it actually. Documents from the former Special Archive are now in the RGVA (Russian State Military Archive). You can contact them via E-mail: [email protected]
Additional contacts are on this page (in Russian):
http://www.rusarchives.ru/federal/rgva/index.shtml
From what I see there is a guide to RSHA documents in the former Special Archive:
Form, Wolfgang; and Poljan, Pavel. № 7. С. 1–8.
which might be helpful. Additional reference sources can be found here:

Last weekend there was a breakdown in TsAMO and flooded 500 fund.
Documents disassembled and dried, but much to lose.

Thanks Varum,
Fond 500 includes a document (number 067). This is a 40 page names' and telephone list (Namensliste und Fernsprechverzeichnisse) of Amt VI of the RSHA, dated 1944.
That's what I'm looking for.
Regards, E-IV

Sorry to interrupt but you are talking about different archives most likely. From what I understand our member Varum have a guide on captured military records in the Defense Ministry's archive in Poldolsk, while document you are looking for must be in the federal archive in Moscow.

Is there anyone can recommend a researcher that has access to the Sonderarchiv? I need to get a copy of a document located there.

It is a rich trophy rare documents, some originals is only in Moscow!
But it is very difficult to order a copy of the documents.
In the letter they do not respond! If ordered to the reading room, you have to wait for 2-3 days!
Very bureaucratic system!

Thanks for the information on the archive. I do have the specific location and name of the document. But I can not travel to Moscow just for this single document, so a for hire-researcher is my only option.

If this topic is still relevant, now captured German documents, which are stored in TsAMO, are being digitized. The Foundation 500 is also partially digitized and you can try to search documents here: http://wwii.germandocsinrussia.org/ru/nodes/1-fond-500
