Jeff Leach wrote:I've downloaded about 2000 pages, one page as at a time. It wasn't a complete waste of time because I was forced looked at each document, allowing some intial evaluation of them.

After some trial and error, I settled on naming folders

fXXX opXXX dXXX.
Yep. Links looks like
https://URL/***Transfer name***/046-0002404-0029/00000003.jpg
where
URL - image location host
***Transfer name*** is unique name of some internal routine between archive and ELAR company
046 - fond (fund)
2404 - opis (list)
29 - delo (dossier)
3 - page

Title page 1 always is omitted.
In some dossiers there can be .JPG instead of .jpg extensions

for each dossier only page numbers differs. Sometimes gaps in numeration presents. Not sure why it happens. Maybe there were some technical pages erased laer or something else.
It is the documents from the 'd = delo' that are collected in each folder. The documents in each folder had to be given new numbers to make sure the pages of each document were keep together.

The biggest problem with the search engine is that it will only display 100 documents at a time.
Nope, it's not the biggest problem. ;)
The biggest problem is to collect *Transfer names*. That's why they are excluded from my index
Mass downloading isn't an issue for me. I have about 220,000 pages of wartime German documents and after 5 five year, I have only looked at about 10% and read maybe 2 - 3 %.
Heh.. You never knows when you need it ))
I have about 0.5Tb of those pages. I read maybe less than 1%, but I actively using them in browsing when I make some research.
Sorry been rambling. What I wanted to say is I hope AMVAS will share some the hidden files. Any dealing with South or Southwest Front 22 June 1941 - 30 October 1941 would be really appreciated.
Yes, I can see some missed maps for the 9th Army 1941. But frankly not much

It takes an extra copy/paste of said title, as well as one manual sequence of 4 clicks per document (not per page). In the end, that's not 100% automatic, as there are ca. 8 clicks per document, but it has the valuable benefit of ease of identification & navigation.

Also, my method does not create any problem sequencing the pages, even within a folder.
You'll have some problems if you need to organize ~60,000 dossiers ;) And it's just this number of them were uploaded to the site.
I use only automatic mode. In every dossier I make index file with all documents titles and pages indexed in it.
That was really a large job to make all of this staff :D

It sounds like I haven't spot all their files as I only see 4 entries in their 500 series (http://wwii.germandocsinrussia.org/ru/nodes/1-fond-500).

It's true that I'm not interested in WW1 records and Berlin police records.

Does anyone know if new material is still being posted to the Soviet document?

I have been conducting searches, I had conducted about 2 years ago, and there are a small number of documents that are new to me. It can be that I am using slightly different search terms ( say МехК instead of МК) hard to be sure after 2 years.

It's strange that your search is not giving much new when compared to 2 years ago. In the beginning of 2018 they posted large amount of searchable "headlines" of new material but without content (without scans). During the past months only small part of these scans have been made available.

I have very limited interests - South Front June - October 1941, so it isn't that strange there isn't a lot of new records.

Great news

Do we know if any new Fond/Opis/Delo ranges were added?
