Thanks for that, Jon - the third aircraft there seems to be a /3mge D-3049 werk nummer 4035, Lufthansa's Heinrich Gontermann, later D-ALAS.

It also appears the original D-2600 Immelmann was given over to Lufthansa after it was renamed H.J. Buddecke; in their service it was renamed again "Hans Berr"

Thank you for the pictures Jon. it amazing how they switched registrations around. I have a very clear picture of the FW Condor which was also D 2600 taken from William Green's 'Warplanes of the Third Reich' Unfortunately, I do not know how to post the picture in this message. If you can tell me how, I will post it.

There are basically two ways of uploading pictures to this site.

The first method is to click 'post reply' then select the 'upload attachment' tab at the bottom of the reply screen, find the attachment on your hard drive, and finally click 'add the file' and you should be fine.

The second method, which I prefer, is to open a picture account with photobucket (or similar, there are several to chose from), upload the picture there according to their instructions, then copy the photo URL. Photobucket has a nice feature for doing that; otherwise just right-click on the image and select 'copy image address'. Then write

This is not half as fiddly as it sounds - learning by doing is the way to go, also in this case, and there is a test section here on the AHF where you can try it all out.

That's a nice little picture, Willi. And from one of the best reference books on German warplanes ever made, even.

It does indeed appear that the D-2600 registration was freely switched from one plane to the next.

I'm glad you like the picture Jon. Those were excellent pictures which you posted on the Ju 52/3m's as well. I agree about Green's "Warplanes of the Third Reich" being one of the best reference books on German Planes. It is definitely the most complete book in an encylopeadic form. I have other books which have a little more specialized comments on specific types but they do not cover the full range of types. I have had my copy since new and it is showing signs of wear. I would also like to get a copy in German (if there is such a thing) for my brother in law who does not speak English.

Yet another picture of an aircraft with the D 2600 registration. I believe that this Ju 52/3m is the one posted last month by Jon G. I got the picture from an old American publication called ' Look to Germany' by Stanley McClatchie. He was obviously a person under the Hitler 'spell' and the book is 100% propaganda supposedly portraying the pre WWII nazi era. Still it contains many interesting pictures. There is no reference to where this picture was taken, but it does appear to be over a German city.

I'm glad to find this conversation. I'm starting on a model of the Ju 52 used by Hitler for the 1934 Nuremberg rally (as appears in "Triumph of the Will"). Does anyone know if there are any photos of the interior of that aircraft (D-2600)? Also, would the pilot & co-pilot have had lap-belts?

To Willi K,
I believe the photo you posted is from "Triumph of the Will", the opening sequence. I'm not sure if it an actual still from the movie or a doctored photo superimposing the aircraft over an aerial view of Nuremberg (the Germans did a lot of what we would now call "photo-shopping" during that period of time).

Anybody out there? If anyone has info on what kind of seatbelt arrangements a civil Ju 52 would have had in the 1930's, I would really appreciate it. I hope to start on a model of one soon.

Reason: Ju 52 (with space) is correct - not "Ju-52" (with hyphen) !

I did finally find some photos. It appears that there were lap belts for the passengers and the crew. If anyone knows this to be wrong, please let me know!
