This is Hawker Hurricane MK I/Tr. V7670 Captured during Mar.1941 by the Italians and handed over to the LW. It was recaptured at Gambut in January 1942 during operation Crusader.

Minor correction, Gambut was recaptured in early December 1941.Snautzer05 wrote:This is Hawker Hurricane MK I/Tr. V7670 Captured during Mar.1941 by the Italians and handed over to the LW. It was recaptured at Gambut in January 1942 during operation Crusader.
The enemy had superiority in numbers, his tanks were more heavily armoured, they had larger calibre guns with nearly twice the effective range of ours, and their telescopes were superior. 5 RTR 19/11/41

This plane appears on page 417 of A History of the Mediterranean Air War 1940 - 1945 Volume One: North Africa June 1940 - January 1942 by Shores and Massimello with the following caption:
Saturday 18 July 1942
From page 281 A History of the Mediterranean Air War 1940-1945 Volume Two: North African Desert February 1942 - March 1943:This captured Hurricane I, V7670, is being inspected by personnel of 14 Squadron on Gambut airfield after the capture of this base and the recapture of this aircraft. Again the aircraft records are somewhat unhelpful, indicating that this machine served with 261 Squadron (Malta-based) and then 208 Squadron (TacR), It appears to have been put back into RAF service (probably with 208 Squadron), for it is reported lost during a reconnaissance sortie over the sea on 18 July 1942.
Saturday 18 July 1942
208 Squadron Hurricane I V7670 dived into the sea from 21 000 ft, Flg Off J C Buckley KIA (formerly a Captain in the Royal Artillery)During the course of the afternoon Flg Off Buckley of 208 Squadron had flown a TacR sortie in a Hurricane I with one other aircraft as his protective 'weaver'. However his aircraft was seen to dive vertically into the sea for no apparent reason
