How many airplanes did the Luftwaffe had in the West 22 June 1941?

By “West” I mean every front except the Eastern one (that includes the Med, Norway, etc). I will appreciate it if you can provide the break-down in fighters (maybe even different types), bombers (the same) and recce.

According to Claus Bekker's "The Luftwaffe War Diaries", the German's used 1,945 aircraft of all types. This represented 61% of the total Luftwaffe strength. That would mean that 1,244 or 1,243 planes were left(depending if you round up or down). As for a break-down of the locations and aircraft numbers in the West; I have not found any tables yet giving these statistics.

Thanks! :)
Too bad you don't have a break-down on types.

Have not seen a front by front breakdown but this is a total from the quarterly report of the Luftwaffe strengths for June 1941. No figures for seaplanes - sorry!

Single Engine Fighters on Strength 1,266 Servicable 885

Twin Engine fighters on Strenghth 210 Sevicable 131

Night Fighters on Strength 199 Servicable 124

Dive Bombers/Ground Attack on Strength 444 Servicable 353

Bombers on Strength 1,460 Servicable 932

Transport Planes on Strength 415 Servicable ???

I can provide a breakdown of types produced that month if required, figures taken from official RLM source.

Regards

Hi There the best I can do is for main operational fliying units as per May 31st 1944.

All figures from "The Luftwaffe Data Book" by Dr Alfred Price.

Luftflotte 3 (Western Europe): 597

Luftflotte 2 (Italy): 227

Luftflotte 5 (Norway/Finland): 262

Luftflotte 'Reich' (Germany): 1,306

The above figure's are for servicable planes

The book does break the figures down to individual Gruppe's etc

Sorry Victor, must get ny eyes checked thought I read 1944 not 1941, so for my second attempt please find numbers for June 24th 1941 from the same book.

Luftflotte 3 (Western Europe, Central & Southern Germany):350

Luftflotte 2 (Northern Germany):1088

Luftflotte 5 (Finland & Norway):206

FliegerKorps X (Med):267

About JG77. I know some of its groups were in Luftflotte IV. So in Luftflotte V there could only have been a group, not the entire Geschwader...
Anyway, thank you! :D
