New image (i think) from ebay.de today, claimed as JG.77. It's Wolf-Dietrich Wilcke's aircraft but he was in JG.53 and JG.3.

A Bf 109 B-2 does not exist (unofficial designation for B-1 with variable-pitch prop), 6-10 was a Bf 109ABruce7506 wrote:Me BF 109B-2 (6-10) du 2.-JG 88 piloté par l'Hptm., Günther Franzl Lützow

Re: Luftwaffe Ruder markings photos
No, not even a B-1, AFAIR in Mtt or RLM documents you only see references to a Bf 109B. B-1 and B-2 were unofficial designations used to differentiate fixed-pitch (B-1) from variable-pitch (B-2) prop versions.Bruce7506 wrote:HelloDenniss wrote:A Bf 109 B-2 does not exist (unofficial designation for B-1 with variable-pitch prop), 6-10 was a Bf 109ABruce7506 wrote:Me BF 109B-2 (6-10) du 2.-JG 88 piloté par l'Hptm., Günther Franzl Lützow

Many book authors claimed these designation to be official designations. They even claimed a Bf 109A did not exist without any source backing this up.

That is incorrect - Walter Oesau did not mark his kills on his rudder - that was one of his many quirks.von thoma wrote:Walter "Gulle" Oesau and his rudder.
That plane belongs to the former commander, Wilhelm Balthasar - it was being used for photoshoots at the time.

Are you absolutely sure that belongs to Oblt Oesau? It is a known fact that he avoided flying the F series for a very long time, as he did not like them, and only began to fly the F series after parts for his Emil were no longer available.Bruce7506 wrote:Hi

Plus, it was one of his quirks that he would not mark his rudder with kill markings, for some reason or another. 1940 is still a bit too early for an F series to be flown by Oesau. Do you have the proof that WNr 1432 did indeed belong to Oesau? I know of several other pilots that did use 13 as their marker, and Oesau's 13 was usually green painted over the yellow.
