Official colour of Luftwaffe crates ?

I hope someone out here might be able to help me.

A modelling friend of mine is busy making a model of german aircraft to go into a diorama, including amongst other things a number of crates, which must be painted one colour or the other in order to make the result look convincing. Remembering my days of national service, all our "official" wooden crates were painted a uniform green (serving in the army), so I am almost certain, that the Luftwaffe must have had their crates painted too, but then again I might be wrong. Hope that someone might be able to shed some light on this rather obscure item

They would in Blue/Gray ranges,or natural wood,certainly.

I would have guessed either this blue/grey colour or perhaps RLM Grau (same as cockpits etc.). On behalf of my friend I thank You most kindly.

I have a personal crate from a Luftwaffe officer at my cottage and it is in a dark grey colour.

Nice play against Holland on Saturday.

Thank You very much for the pictures - I very much appreciate You effort. As far as I can judge, the colour is a much darker shade of grey than the slate grey (RLM 02) I had thought.

From what I've read bomb crates were typically painted RAL6006, feldgrau.
