Luftwaffe airfields in the USSR are a mess. Many places have either be renamed do not exists any more or are German names given to the occupied places, Now if you try the go to the bomber or fighters geschwaders...

This is a list were JG54 has been.
I made a map of these movement see here http://batchgeo.com/map/ab1297a4dc9c122 ... b23d15a478
All the interactive maps contain data on more levels be it location, airplane type etc. All searchable strings ( like i.g. day fighter or a date.) in a map can be found by clicking on a single pin on a map

Thanks for reply on my thread. Agree on a mess in airfields names, locations and etc. That what we are trying to do. Clean the mess. Thanks Snautzer05 for a map, very handful. I have a list of airfields occupied by Luftflotte 4 (Gen.d.Fl. Otto Deßloch) in 1943. And some names of the airfields are different, even if it a same airfield. Thanks Art for translating all German style names to modern style.

I made maps for all Jagd Geschwader. I call them Unit movement maps.

Yes, I used same source. In my knowledge, for instance, Charkow-Woitschenko and Charkow-Osnova are the same airfields. But after some research I have found they are satellites in Luftwaffe documents. Do you have on your maps anything for Blisnezy(RUSS)(e. Bliznetsy; today Bliznyuki)(a.k.a. Stary Bliznetsy), Jaruga(RUSS)(e. Yaruga, Kam’yana Yaruha), Lewkowka(RUSS)(e. Levkovka)(today: Levkivka), Tschugujew (RUSS) (e. Chuguyev)(today:Chuhuiv).

Hello, everyone!
I looking for help to find an end of one story. I have been contacted by a granddaughter of one russian VVS pilot, who went MIA in May 7th 1943. He was in escort mission for bombing German airfield Charkow-Nord (Charkow I). His plane was hit and went down over the airfield. By words of his granddaughter, based on family story (fellow-pilot was visiting his wife after he was MIA) he actually performed a ground ramming ( russian taran) 0f one of Ju-88 parked on the airfield.( by the way no Luftwaffe losses in this day). After spending a lot of time in russian archives she found no evidence. But in the same time, in russian net sites, this ramming is circulating everywhere. From russian forums I have explanation this is a propaganda of that period. We assume, the source of this information goes from research work of general A. Zaitsev, where he brought number of tarans performed by russian pilots is 270.We are still working on this lead.
Why no evidence in archives? Again by words of this lady it was a reason. The pilot was with russian-german/polish roots. He knew these languages and was hiding this. For obvious reason. So, NKVD somehow found this and especially day before this date, where he was involved in take off collision accident with damaging few planes, he would probably go in Gulag or shtrafbat. Other words by NKVD standards he wasn't a role model.
I have few questions to ask.
First: knowing what Flaks and JGs were based on the airfield, is it possible to find any records of this incident from German side ( radio transmission, log books records and etc.) If yes, so where.
Re. by russian records he was hit by Flak.
Second: How to clarify a ground ramming from free falling ? With a radio transmission only?
Thanks for any help in this story, fellows!
