Kill/Death Ratio of the Dora-9?

#1

Post by jtemple507 » 27 Mar 2014, 02:09

I am comparing many planes to one another and whilst comparing the P-51 to the Fw 190D-9, I could not seem to find a good K/D ratio for the Dora. A Google search for "Fw 190D-9 kill/death ratio" brought up mostly player stats for video games. Other sites said something like "11/1" or "19/1", which seems really outrageous given the state of the Luftwaffe by the time the Dora was introduced. Please help!!!

Hi,

The III. Gruppe of Jagdgeschwader 54 was the first in combat with the FW 190 D-9. It claimed 41 aerial victories between September 1944 and January 1945.

Figures on the unit's losses differ. Monthly summaries note at least 29 aircraft lost due to enemy action and fourteen for non-combat reasons between September and December 1944.

Individual loss reports for September 1944-January 1945, which are incomplete, record 39 aircraft lost and 22 damaged.

Whichever way you look at it, the first Dora-9 equipped unit did not have a very good kill:loss ratio, probably 1:1 or less.

Cheers,
Andrew A.
