Fieseler Storch
Fieseler Storch
Gentlemen,
I'm looking for a photograph of two wounded German soldiers on stretchers, being loaded into a Storch. I had the picture but didn't save it and now I can't find it again.
TIA, any help you may provide will be greatly appreciated,
Regards,
P.N.

I don't have that one but I have one from the Bundesarchiv showing a single soldier being loaded into a Storch in Russia:

Hi,
isn't there already another wounded strapped in already? It looks as if the 3 on the far side are attending to him.
Might be one of more pictures.

Good observation, I believe you are right Jaguh! I thought they were just stowing some gear but I see a face now.
Here are a couple of related pics of a Storch being used to evacuate wounded.

Re: Fieseler Storch
So how many wounded can fit in that Storch. Look pretty small from the picture like it can only fit 1.

Hi Alex and Raul,
Also from another source-http://www.historyofwar.org/articles/we ... _156D.html
Also from another source-http://www.historyofwar.org/articles/we ... _156D.html
The Fieseler Fi 156D was a dedicated air-ambulance version of the Storch, modified to make it easier to load patients on stretchers into the aircraft.
D-0
The D-0 was the pre-production version of the D series. It had an upward-hinged loading door on the starboard side of the fuselage, just behind the canopy, while the plexiglass panels at the rear of the canopy could be opened downwards. This created a large opening through which the patient and stretch could easily be passed. The D-0 normally carried a second seat for an attendant, but this could be removed and a second stretch and patient carried instead.
Cheers,
Max
