Luftkreise/Wehrkreise

Did the Luftkreise designation correspond to the Wehrkreise designation? That is, was Luftkreis III part of/aligned with Wehrkreis III? And were they both based in Berlin? Thanks.............JC

A Luftkreis was not aligned or based on a Wehrkreis, A Luftgau was indeed based on a Wehrkreis.
Here you have a list of all the Luftkreis:
Luftkreis I Königsberg
Luftkreis II Berlin
Luftkreis III Dresden
Luftkreis IV Münster
Luftkreis V München
Luftkreis VI (sea) Kiel
Luftkreis VII Braunschweig

and here below you have the list for the Luftgaue:
Luftgau I (Königsberg)
Luftgau II (Stettin)
Luftgau III (Berlin)
Luftgau IV (Dresden)
Luftgau V (Stuttgart)
Luftgau VI (Münster)
Luftgau VII (München)
Luftgau VIII (Breslau)
Luftgau IX (Weimar)
Luftgau X (Hamburg)
Luftgau XI (Hanover)
Luftgau XII (Giessen/Wiesbaden)

and yes indeed the Luftgau III was based in Berlin like the Wehrkreis.

Thus a Luftkreis is not the same as a Luftgau.
