Hello,
Just acquired these two very rare pics of a (Ober-)Gefreiter in Luftwaffenuniform.
The 1st photo is a group photo (I guess three brothers or relatives) with a Cavalry NCO. The Luftwaffen-Gefreiter wears a Fliegerbluse and displays the cloth insignia for Flieger-Technisches Personal on top of the famous cufftitle "Führer-Hauptquartier" (early version spelled in two words and woven in Gothic characters). This cuff was worn from 1. May 1940 ("von allen Angehörigen des Führerhauptquartiers am linken Unterärmel der Uniform getragen").
The 2nd photo is dated 1943 and shows the same man as Obergefreiter in Fliegerbluse. This time no cloth (trade or branch) insignia but a very nice cufftitle "Führerhauptquartier" (late version spelled in one word and embroidered in Sütterlin characters).
So this man served in the Fliegerstaffel des Führers - FdF (aka Staffel BAUR); I assume from 1940 to at least 1943 (date on the 2nd pic) which makes him a vet in this flying unit. I also assume that he served on the WINNIZA airfield during the stay of the unit from 16. July 1942 till 1. November 1942 (the active period of FHQu "Wehrwolf" near Strishawka / Ukraine). So I added a group photo of the personnel of the Fliegerstaffel des Führers - FdF on the WINNIZA airfield (source BPK).
Unique document indeed!!!!
