Fernaufklärungs-Gruppe 186 info needed

#1

Hi all,

I am trying to find some kind of information re Fernaufklärungs-Gruppe 186, I can't seem to dig out anything on this
particular unit, and more specifically, a pilot from that unit that served with them in north Africa, Major Walter Koch,
although that was his last known rank, he would have been a lower rank in Africa. The only Koch that I have found with
that name was the FJ Knight's Cross winner, and no hits on my Fernaufklärungs-Gruppe 186 man. I think the unit served
around the el Alamein area of north Africa at one stage.

Any information on the Gruppe or the airman would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Cheers

Bob

No such unit and no one by the name of "Walter KOCH" who was associated with the Aufklärungsflieger.

Thanks Larry, explains why I couldn't find any reference anywhere to it. A friend has a belt marked FAG 186 with that name on it, and
said it was a pick up from north Africa, and I was looking at obtaining the belt, apparently it was a direct pick up from the Major post-war.

Thanks for your assistance.

Best wishes

Bob
