I remeber the following anecdote, but can't remember the title of the book, sorry.

When the national formations of the Waffen-SS were brought up to strength, all personel from formations of the Wehrmacht and the auxiliaries were scrached together. Only a black french NSKK driver from Martinique was rejected for Charlemagne.

A superb find and contribution. And thank you for the information on the Jewish Luftwaffe member as well.

You may find this little factoid interesting. Horst Sabac el Cher, a mulatto, was in the Stahlhelm and served on the eastern front as a medic. The story of the family is told here: http://www.amazon.com/Warwolves-Iron-Cr ... 2919063/_1

There were soldiers of African decent in III Reich forces. The name used at the time was "Reichsneger". A google search using this awful word
will provide further information for those interested.
