Adolf Galland became Germany's youngest general at the age of 29 when he was promoted in 1942.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolf_Galland

Kurt Meyer was the youngest German general to command a division. In June 1944, Meyer was 33 when he was appointed commander of the 12th SS-Panzer Division Hitlerjugend.

Kind regards.
The truth is that you're a quiet, sensitive type, but if I'm prepared to take a chance I might just get to know the inner you: witty, adventurous, passionate, loving, loyal, a little bit crazy, a little bit bad, but, hey, don't us girls just love that?

German Generalfeldmarschälle don't retire and are on active duty until they are convoked to the Grand Army! So the oldest was August von Mackensen.

Unfortunately this is not correct !!
Kurt Meyer:
16.06.1944 - 06.09.1944 Kommandeur der 12. SS-Panzerdivision ”Hitlerjugend”

21.06.1943 SS-Standartenführer der Waffen-SS
06.08.1944 SS-Oberführer der Waffen-SS (with effect from 01.08.1944)
After being captured (06.09.1944) he was promoted to SS-Brigadeführer und Generalmajor der Waffen-SS with retroactive effect from 01.09.1944

After Field Marshal MACKENSEN the oldest general in WWII, who served really in the army :
Probably Gen.Maj. z.V. MAX ZUNEHMER (1865-1945), holder of the WWI-Pour le merite, who served from October 1940 to April 1942 (76 years old !!!) as Kommandant of Düsseldorf.

One Officer that was older than Zunehmer was the former Austrian WWI Feldmarshall Eduard Ritter von Böhm-Ermolli (1856-1941) who was promoted by Hitler to Generalfeldmarschall in 1940 and was made a honorary Chef of the Infanterie-Regiment 28 at the time of his death in 1941 at the age of 85. Eduard Ritter von Böhm-Ermolli was also a holder of the Pour le Mérite. See link...

Adolf Galland was 29 years and 8 months old when made a general in 1942, however Dietrich Peltz was 29 years and 5 months when promoted to Generalmajor in 1943, so he was the youngest general in the Wehrmacht.

According to ABR website Galland was born on 19 March 1912 and promoted to Generalmajor on 1 November 1942 making him 30 years and 7+ months old when he reached that rank. Galland was appointed to the post of General der Jagdflieger on 5 December 1941, but that was a posting, not a rank -- he was an Oberst at the time.

Part 2, Luftwaffe youngest generals (here is PELTZ!) :

Gen.Maj. : DIETRICH PELTZ, GM 1.11.43, 29 years/4 months;
Gen.Lt. : ADOLF GALLAND, GL 1.11.44, 32y./8m.;
Gen. der Flieger : WERNER KREIPE, GdF 1.9.44, 40y./5m.;
Gen.Oberst : HANS JESCHONNEK, GO 1.3.42, 42y./ 11m.;
