Are the above confirmed? For Mittermaier, I know that he lived in Konstanz in the 1960s (Wehrkunde in 1965 states so), and when Horst Rohde's Das deutsche Wehrmachttransportwesen im Zweiten Weltkrieg was published in 1971, he was still living there.

I have for Mittermaier also
† 26.08.1971 Heidelberg - but I can't find my source.

GSVet Erich Rathsmann was born on 13.07.1885 (Source: Handwritten birth date behind his name in DAL 1943 from NARA T-28 R-515).

I doubt that Friedrich Brüll ever was a General. The info in "Die Generale des Heeres" is definitely wrong. He is listed in the 1938 DAL B as Oberst (E) mit RDA vom 01.08.1933 (7), and here is info that indicates he died and was buried as Oberst.

Aisin, I have Volkmar Schoene as Oberst. Are you positive that he was Generalmajor?

The date 16.08.1971 is supported, for example, by:
https://www.munzinger.de/search/portrai ... 18881.html
https://www.bundesarchiv.de/oeffentlich ... 22.html.de
http://www.spiegel.de/spiegel/print/d-43143978.html
BArch N 527

Der Spiegel (23.08.1971) says "died on the previous Monday", which was 16.08.1971.

Sometimes, such discrepancies occur when a person dies around midnight. The definitive confirmation is given by the death certificate.

Volkmar Schöne belongs to the group of officers who were supposedly promoted to Generalmajor in 1945, but without exact date, according to Die Wehrmacht-Elite by Reinhard Stumpf. Thus, if one wants to count them as Generalmajore, it should be noted they are "ohne Nachweis".

As far as I know, his date of death is unknown. He was still alive on 09.10.1977, when he wrote a letter to the author Heinrich Bücheler for the latter's biography of Erich Hoepner. In that book, he is mentioned as "Oberst i. G. a. D.".

Can anybody confirm the correct date of death for GM Karl Göbel? Both 27.02.1945 and 02.03.1945 are mentioned.
