The German Leaders

#1

Post by Robert Jackson » 24 May 2006, 05:38

Hi everyone,

Can anyone help me start a list of the German leaders and what job they did in Nazi Germany. Here are a few I have already:

HITLER - Leader of Germany (1933-1945)

HIMMLER - Chief of the SS and Gestapo

GOERING - Commander of the German Air Force

GOEBBELS - Propaganda and Culture Minister

RIBBENTROP - Foreign Minister

HESS - Deputy Leader and Hitler's Secretary

HEYDRICH - Deputy Chief of the SS

ROMMEL - Commander of the Africa Corps

BORMANN - Hitler's Deputy No. 3

Can anyone suggest some more please?

Thanks in advance for all help. We can make this a really good topic of all Hitler's henchman I think and the jobs they had in Nazi Germany. Maybe someone can also post photos of all the men.

Robert

Thanks Dieter, I will try to have more info now of my own before I ask a question.

Here are some other Nazi leaders I have heard of but what jobs did they do:

ROSENBERG

SPEER (Hitler's architect I know)

VON PAPEN (an old man but Hitler needed him for some reason I think - maybe he was respected by older Germans)

Also, I am confused. :?

Who was commander of the German navy? I did some research and they seemed to have 2 commanders Admiral Doenitz and Admiral Radar. Which one was the real leader of the navy?

I know already from the SS section that Germany had trouble keeping all these different groups together - SS, Gestapo, SD, Waffen SS, Hitler Youth etc. It must have been pretty confusing I think knowing who was in charge of what if you see what I am saying.

Thanks for all help.

Yes and no.

Heres the complete list from Wikipedia.

* 1928 bis 30. Januar 1943 Großadmiral Erich Raeder (als Kriegsverbrecher zu Haft im Kriegsverbrechergefängnis Spandau verurteilt)
* 30. Januar 1943 bis 30. April 1945 Großadmiral Karl Dönitz (als Kriegsverbrecher zu Haft im Kriegsverbrechergefängnis Spandau verurteilt)
* 1. Mai - 23. Mai 1945 Generaladmiral Hans-Georg von Friedeburg (Freitod)
* 23. Mai - 22. Juli 1945 Generaladmiral Walter Warzecha (von den Alliierten mit der Wahrnehmung beauftragt)

Albert Speer - Head of Armaments and War Production - Official rank was Reichsminister from 1943-1945, he succeeded Reichsminister Fritz Todt who was killed in a plane crash. So Speer took over his ministry called "Organisation Todt".

Why was Admiral Radar sacked?

Maybe cause Bismarck was sunk and the Germans lost a lot of submarines too I think.

In fact, Germany didn't win any big navy battles in WW2 :(

RAEDER, not Radar!!!
A series of failed operations, combined with the outstanding success of Dönitz' U-boats led to his resignation.

Robert, young friend,

if you have more of such very basic questions and are either not willing or not able to google, wiki or simple browse this forum for an answer-
for gods sake send me a pm and I will do my best to answer them instead of starting so many new themes and challenging the patience of members and moderators.

This topic is locked. A forum search, a Google search, a few trips to the library should answer these questions.
