Hi,

I would like to know what medals he earned, a short bio on him, birthplace, if he was in the Reichswehr, if so what Division, etc. I'm posting so many bulletins because, one I'm interested in the Third Reich, but mainly I'm tracing my German roots and those people are my distant relatives, and I would like to more about them wether murderers or not. I am not proud of my being related to Karl Otto Koch, or Gauleiter Meyer but I would like to know more about those facts good or bad. Thank you.

Heres the only refrences I've got, http://www.das-ritterkreuz.de/index_sea ... =Prochaska

and a book titled "The Brandenburger Commandos Germany's Elite Warrior Spies in WWII" Author: Franz Kurowski.

Hope this helps more :D

Regards,
Seigfried

Hello Siegfried! (You do know that spelling the name Siegfried like "Seigfried" is wrong!? )

About Leutnant d. R. Ernst Prochaska of the famed Brandenburgers... Look at the facts that you already found and deduce new knowledge from them. The link that you have from http://www.das-ritterkreuz.de clearly states that Prochaska was born on 07.06.1917 and thus was 18 years old when Hitler introduced compulsory military service in the Wehrmacht. He was just a kid during the Reichswehrs days and as such, did not serve in the Reichswehr.

Your provided link also states that Ernst Prochaska was born in Mährisch Ostrau so that you already know, yes? What it doesn't say is that this town/village was situated in the Austro-Hungarian Double Monarchy at the time (1917).If you do some simple googling on this name, you will find that it is todays Ostrava in the Czech Republic and as such, occupied by Germany between 1939 and 1945.

Some good starter links for biographical research on the Net...
