Hi Klemens,
here is a bit of info:
Born Trieste 1888, in WW1 served as a Hptm.
Spoke fluent Italian, English, Spanish and French
Rejoined the army in 1935 and posted to AST [Abwehrstelle] Stuttgart (an Abwehr out station).
Jan 37-sent to Spain as a liason officer between the Abwehr and the Italian Expeditionary Force under Roatta,
injured in car accident and sent home at the end of the year.
In March 1939 was posted to AST Prague as Head of Dept III/-F Security and Counter-espionage,
but in April 39 was made Head of KO Italy, main job was liason officer between Abwehr and the Italian SID.
Was a great friend of Canaris and was not a Nazi and after his capture he asked the Allies not to send him back to Germany, but to live in Italy, was allowed but only lived a few more years, have a pic of him somewhere.
Extra info made Kdr. of AST Italy based in Merano, the position was dissolved in March 1944, but remained as a Liason officer,
he was actually interviewed by the Gestapo in Jan 45 about the plot against Hitler
