Generalleutnant Hermann Plocher
Generalleutnant Hermann Plocher
There´s a new Military History magazine in Spain called ARES and on its second issue there is a report about Hermann PLOCHER, chief of staff of Condor Legion. The attached picture is on the cover of the magazine and shows Hermann PLOCHER with the rank of a Colonel in the Spanish Armed Forces. I remember some time ago a thread with a picture of PLOCHER with the rank of Colonel and I questioned that because PLOCHER´s biography says that he was promoted to Oberst on 1.8.40. What I did not know at that time was that all the german officers that were enrolled in the Condor Legion had one promotion higher while fighting in Spain.
I hope you enjoy the picture.

Very unusual to see the rank displayed above the left pocket! I've never seen that before... At the same time they appear very big !

Re: Generalleutnant Hermann PLOCHER
Hello everyone,
I hope no one minds me hijacking this thread about Generalleutnant Herman Plocher. I just didn't want to start a new one when one was already here. I just have a question about Generalleutnant Plocher's promotion dates. On ABR it says Plocher was promoted Oberst 1 August 1940 and then Generalleutnant 1 March 1943. Did he skip the rank of Generalmajor or is it just a simple mistake on ABR(a great site btw)?
Regards from the land down under,
Pete.

Re: Generalleutnant Hermann PLOCHER
Dunno if the one before the WHDA could be Österr. Kriegserinnerungsmedaille. And if the one after the Sudeten Medal could be Medalla Militar Individual . Or, oddly, vice Versa.

Re: Generalleutnant Hermann PLOCHER
Hi there,
I am researching Lt General Hermann Lukas Plocher who occupied my families house at the end of the war in Hilversum and I was wondering if anyone had any information about him and 6th Para Division from Autumn 1944 when he became commander of the 6th to his surrender on the 10th May 1945?
Thanks so much.
