Re: First Names of Colonels / GE Officers
Moltke d. J.,
thank you very much for your efforts. I didn´t have the GHdA entries for Versen to research. The Versen in question is: Joachim-Egmont. Excellent.
The other two officers in question, von Scheven and von Korff, I am not sure though. I have researched them both with GHdA entries before too and think that both officers are not listed in GHdA. Von Scheven obviously not because there were two families, v. Scheven (nobility) and von Scheven (not nobility) ... my man obviously a person from the second one.
Much appreciated.

I don't know if you thought of this already, but you might want to check if he/them show up in Deutsches Geschlechterbuch (DGB).
Re: First Names of Colonels / GE Officers
Hi Jürgen,
Did you ever resolve your query re Oberst i.G. von Scheven (I'm trying to update my list of Army Chiefs of Staff - 2. Armee).
Very best wishes,
VJ

Re: First Names of Colonels / GE Officers
Hi V!
Oberst von Scheven, the Cavalry officer - still with mystery christian name - was not a General Staff officer as far as I know. I think your entry might be a typo. Maybe Oberst i. G. von Schaewen (Hans Georg) is meant? It´s almost the same pronounciation. Of course I can be wrong and a non-general staff officer was used to fill the gap after v. Tresckow for a short period of time.
