Re: Request for Identification of Generals and Admirals
I would say GenMj Walter v Boltenstern of 29 (mot) Div who participated in the great encirclement at Smolensk.

Re: Request for Identification of Generals and Admirals
While browsing google photos I found quite a lot of pictures (source: life) of highranking German officers, many of them I have never seen before, and a number of photos taken right after capture by British and US Forces.
Some might know them, many won´t. Only very few pictures I have seen on this forum before.
Here is a link for some of them, there are more:
< http://images.google.de/images?gbv=2&hl ... 54&ndsp=18 >
Sadly the persons are not identified on google (not even the most well-known).
I have attached one example, which is from Africa. I hope I´m not violating any law by posting it
Imho the Generalmajor is von Liebenstein, commander of the 164. Inf.Div., nephew of the wellknown General von Geyr-Schweppenburg. Although he is smiling, I guess the picture was taken right after capture as he received the Ritterkreuz just 3 days before.
The British captors gave Liebenstein high praises, being an anti-Nazi, very humorous, well-liked by friend and foe, a talented painter, an aristocrat admiring admiring everything British.
