Re: Request for Identification of Generals and Admirals
General von Vaerst (center) and the generals captured with him near Bizerta in May 1943. Bülowius and Bassenge are right, Neuffer is far left. Is the guy second from left Fritz Krause? The height and DKiG would fit, but he seems to be missing his trademark black moustache. Or is it just the photo that makes it appear so?

No, it is von Hülsen, Heinrich-Hermann.askropp wrote:Is the guy second from left Fritz Krause? The height and DKiG would fit, but he seems to be missing his trademark black moustache. Or is it just the photo that makes it appear so?

Re: Request for Identification of Generals and Admirals
Hmm ... but as far as I know, Hülsen was not with this bunch of Generals, he was captured with Arnim in the southern sector. And although the photo is quite grainy, aren't that Larisch-Arabesken on his collar patches? Hülsen was still an Oberst when captured. Could it be Borowietz? But I don't see a RK.

Re: Request for Identification of Generals and Admirals
Sorry not been in touch, lately would say Beuttel with Inf.Rgt. 37. There is an Osnabrück connection ref this post, having served there with the British Army in Osnabrück where my interest in the German military took off.trbooks wrote:I think this is GM later GL Kurt Beuttel ? Re: Request for Identification of Generals and Admirals
On the Vaerst group, I believe the officer could be Alfred Koester. He is later seen in the same plane with Neuffer and Bassenge. In that case, he would wear standard Kragenspiegel, of course.
