Jan-Hendrik

I cannot confirm 1933 but he was serving in the 5.(preuß.)Reiter-Regiment in 1932. By 1 April 1934 he was serving as a Rittmeister in the War Ministry.

Regards
Glenn

Merci, that's him :D

He is mentioned in a report of v.Gusovius about his first time as Offiziersanwärter at RR 5 in 1933

Wow, Miocid, you pic is actually GenMj August Heinrich Wassmuth, promoted 01.02.42, just 21 days before he was killed in Rshew. :P :P :P DKiG 10.06.42 (he must be wearing it low beneath his breast pocket) and Kmdr IR 413. Not the same Wassmuth Jan-Hendrik was looking for as your Wassmuth was a Lt already in 1916.

Cheers

Not that Keilig is infallible. But the entries were Freiw Drag Rgt 5 01.10.08, Lt 1916 , Kmdr PzAbwAtl 8 01.10.36. A bit unlikely that it's the same man.

Actually, I am rusty now but are Reiter Rgts descendents of Dragoons? But one was a Lt in 1916 and the other was an Offiziersanwärter in 1933.

No, Elwyn, v.Gusovius wrote about himself being Offiziersanwärter in 1933, his Rekrutenoffizier has Lt. Pretzell, and Rittmeister Wassmuth was Chef of the Ausbildungs-Schwadron.

Dragoner sind natürlich Kavallerie, und Reiter auch :D :D

Hello
Although known as Wassmuth (Keilig, etc.) his Karteikarte as well as DALs 40+41 read Waßmuth, so I believe that Waßmuth is correct.
