Re: Oberst Hans Treptow/Brg.z.b.V.4
Hello,
if we believe this site http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Gli ... BzbV-R.htm
he commanded Brig. z.b.V. 4 since Feb. 1943.
Before that he seems to have been CO of Schützenregiment 101 for some time ( http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Gli ... R101-R.htm ).
And this he seems to be too:
Best regards
Torsten

Hello,
from http://forum.panzer-archiv.de/viewtopic ... b7e#173031 :
Unfortunately Hinze contradicts himself several times when he describes the varying compositions of combat teams Treptow and Fritsche. At one time or another elements of the following units served under Gruppe Treptow in July 1944:
Grenadier-Regiment 11
Grenadier-Regiment 101
Grenadier-Regiment 1065
Grenadier-Regiment 1068
Grenadier-Regiment 1069
Füsilier-Bataillon 14

from http://forum.panzer-archiv.de/viewtopic ... b7e#173031 :
This is presumably what his personnel file says. Actually he commanded a combat team in July 1944 under 14. Infanterie-Division. It was called either Gruppe Treptow or Brigade Treptow and is mentioned by Niepold (1985, p.241) and quite detailed by Hinze (1987, pp.170-175). Due to the description given by Niepold it seems Brigade z.b.V. 4 (a mere HQ unit) was used to command the units subordinated to Treptow. His Kampfgruppe evolved into the newly established Grenadier-Regiment 53 on July 29th, 1944.Oberst TREPTOW Hans

Re: Oberst Hans Treptow - Brigade z.b.V. 4
What doing Hans Treptow after 22.08.1944 when Grenadier-Rgt. 1068 was disbanded?
Did he serve in Gruppe Treptow / Grenadier-Rgt. 53 / 14. Infanterie-Div. till severely wound?

Hello
according to various lists and sources Treptow commanded the Brig. z.b.V. 4 (Gruppe Treptow) on 09.07. and 23.07.44. Therefore Gren.Rgt. 1068 should be wrong. Is there any evidence that he commanded from end july 44 the new Gren.Rgt. 53 ? If so until august 44 ? What after that or was he wounded in aug. or when ?
Thanks, Rossano

Hello,
another addition to Treptow's career:
On Nov. 19th, 1941 he took over as leader of Schützen-Regiment 52. Oberst Jollasse - the commander of the regiment - slipped on icy ground on Nov. 17th, 1941 and hurt himself so badly that he needed surgery. For the moment his superior Oberst Schrepffer from Schützen-Brigade 18 stepped in and deputized for Jollasse, but this lasted hardly more than a day (Paul, 1975, p.123).
Oberst Treptow kept this command at least till Dec. 18th, 1941. For that day he's mentioned as regimental CO in a diary note in Kempowski (2002, p.516).
I've found no clear date when Oberst Jollasse returned to Schützen-Regiment 52 but it must have been in mid-December 1941. Paul (1975,
p.159) quotes from a field post letter Jollasse wrote home on Jan. 5th, 1942. In this letter Jollasse speaks of three weeks of extremely hard fighting they all just had experienced and how magnificent his regiment behaved in this situation.
