1. HE wrote his experience as a Werhmact soldier, with candor, good conscience, and humility. He was a remarkable man, who was well documented in BBC, History Channel and other series because of his experience being miss-guided-as a young boy-by Hitler’s propaganda. A whole generation of Germans was close to annihilation because of Der Fuehrer. Henry Metalmann represented many in the Wermacht –with mis placed pride, would soon learn; they were the devil’s brigade. This is a fine man and soldier all should emulate. The History Channel, BBC and others; which includes many writers of books, periodicals, news channels, and newspapers, who reviewed his book; found him worthy of mention and praise many times over. He is in the same category as “The Night of the Generals”. What a privilege it would have been to interview this fine man.

Found my information. He wrote an acclaimed bio of his life, and was televised by BBC. Fascinating and humble Wehrmacht soldier who reveals much about the Russian front and the officers he served under...became a POW and lived the remainder of his years in England.

Appreciate the spell check Dieter Zinke. Metelmann was a remarkable soldier. Emulated the German soldier...his beginnings, to his end. Concerning the mentality and command of some Generals: Some should have retired before WW2.

No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country.
