Gen.d.Art. Frhr. v. Roman

Hello Gentlemen
Is there any official evidence (NARA, etc.) that he REALLY commanded 04/05.1945 the LXIV. AK ?
In Internet (Lex. d. Wehrm.) it is reported in his mil. career that he MAYBE was 04.45 "z. K.G. ernannt".
Indeed in the Übersicht of about 04.45 at the LXIV. AK Grimmeiß is cancelled and v. Roman added, but according to Friebe´s mil. career he (Friebe) took over this Korps from 04.45 (after Grimmeiß) to end.
This is confirmed by NARA list with the commanders of the LXIV. AK and also by a document dated 04.05.45 signed by Friebe "m.F.b." of this Korps.
So I personally believe that "von Roman was maybe "z. K.G. ernannt", but he never took over command and Friebe replaced him. Awaiting Your comments
Thanks, Rossano

Rossano

There seem to be two sources for von Roman commanding LXIV AK. The first is a Stellenbesetzung for late April 1945 (NARA T-78 R-39 Frame 000618) and the second an entry on a card for von Roman that states: 19.4.45 Kom Gen LXIV AK (NARA T-78 R-892).

But in FMS Study B-191 Friebe describes his time in command of LXIV AK from 21 April 1945 - 5 May 1945. See below:

Once again, I think you are correct in your analysis.

Hello John, Thanks
If Friebe took over the Corps so late as 21.04 (although he was ordered to on 16.04) there could be 2 possibilities :
1) as Grimmeiß was put on Fü.Res. on 15.04, maybe v. Roman commanded the Corps from 15.04 (or 19 according to Your card, but in such a case Grimmeiß until 19) to 21.04 only, or
2) Grimmeiß eventually commanded the Corps till 21.04, then Friebe mFb. (and v. Roman, although "z. K.G. ern.", not overtaken)
By the way, the list (Übersicht) dated late April (I too have it) is not very reliable
Friendly, Rossano
P.S.: my proposal (exchanging NARA-rolls and creating names indexes) uninteresting ???
