Gentlemen,

What year did Helmut Moeller-Althaus was born? What was his final his final high WWII rank? Did he join the Bundeswehr after WWII? I already knew about his German decorations and his time with the 13th Panzer Division. Plenty of information needed to fill in the blanks. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Edward L. Hsiao

Dear Sir,

A bit of information is a start. Thank you. So we don't know what Moeller-Althaus's last important assignment before WWII was over in Europe in 1945?

Sincerely,

Edward L. Hsiao

Hi. Just joined this Forum to answer some questions. Helmut Moeller-Althaus was born 04.02.06 in LÜBECK. Concerning foreign Order, he recieved the "Abz. der Schn.Slow.Div." on April 6th 1942, and Bulg.Tapf.Auszeichnung IV.Kl.

I own its Fotoalbum as the Time he was Ia in the 13. Pz.Div.

For your Information, his whole Group (Soldbuch - duplicate, Awards documents and Awards itselves) is in a big german Collection !

Gentlemen,

Thank you for additional information about Helmut Moeller-Althaus. The more the better. For a double German Cross winner both Silver and Gold and as an Oberst,I'm surprised that he received little attention in studying his military career.

Sincerely,

Edward L. Hsiao

Dear gentlemen,
my name is Markus Berson, born as Markus Moeller-Althaus. I’m a grandson of Helmut Moeller-Althaus.
He never talked much about WW II in our family but he wrote all his memorys down. After WW II my grandfather was offered to join the German „Bundeswehr“, because he never was a member of the Nazi Party. But he was only offered the rank of major. He rejected.
During WW II he was stationed at the Krim in the Ukraine. As a QuM one of his duties was to provide the 13th tank division with fuel. There he established connections to the local Oil industry. The Texaco was at that time already involved in the oil industry. In Germany there was a small oil industry about 20 miles north of Hannover in Lower Saxony that was also run by Texaco. After my grandfather broke with his military career he had to find work to run his family. With his old connections he found himself a new career in this small oil industry and settled their in Lower Saxony.

I hope you find this information helpful.
Yours sincerely,
Markus Berson

Another note on that regard: Although he never talked much about WW II he seemed to be proud of his two German Crosses. It was his last wish, that the Crosses were exposed on his funeral. German authorities denied that because the Nazi "Hakenkreuz" was imprinted on them. But my father fullfilled his fathers last wish. For that a pine was imposed on him.
