Discrepancy in biographical data of naval officer

#1

Hello

I am having problems with the biographical data of a German naval officer.

His name was Bernhard Schulz.

Lohmann & Hildebrandt states about him:
Schulz, Bernhard
(07), geb. 5.9.1890 in Züllichau/Kreis Schwiebus; K.Kapt. 1.4.41.- „T 190“, Komdt. 1.37-1.40; Schiffstamm „Wilhelm Bauer“, Komdt. 4.40-9.41; B.d.U.Org., 2. U-Fl. u MOK Ost, z.Vfg. 9.41-8.42; Hafenkomdt Memel 8.42-10.43; Hafenkapitän Hirtshals 10.43-11.43. Verstorben 26.11.1943.

However, there is something wrong about these data, because I can't find him in the "Ehrenrangliste der kaiserlich Deutschen Marine 1914-1918".

I find him in the Kriegsmarine-Rangliste of 1935 and 1938, which states about him:
Rangliste 1935:
1929
Oberleutnant zur See of 1.6.35 (-34-)
Schulz, Bernhard
S.V.K., Versuchsverb., Komdt.

Rangliste 1938
1926
Kapitänleutnant of 1.6.36
Schulz (Bernhard)
S.V.K., Versuchsverband, Kmdt.

The dates in the Ranglisten of his entering of the navy differs (1926 and 1929), and further he would be far to old to enter the navy as a cadet at in the late 1920's.

Can anybody explain these discrepancies? Cloud he have an officer in the merchant navy first?

Best regards
Jens
