death date of Gen. Haehling v. Lanzenauer
death date of Gen. Haehling v. Lanzenauer
Hello Generale-experts
I just found a Karteikarte of an officer where in the back (dedicated to his judgements/Beurteilungen) it reads :
"4.43 Ob. Haehling v. Lanzenauer : Offizier X hat.........."
Question : but wasn´t Haehling KIA 2.43(so in his Dienstlaufbahn) or wrong ? If he gave a Beurteilung 4.43 on this officer X it should be obvious that he wasn´t KIA 2.43 but maybe 4.43, or 4.43 in the Karteikarte wrong ? Your opinion ?
Thanks, Rossano

Hello Rossano,
no need yet to rewrite the history books. There existed another Oberst Haehling von Lanzenauer:
Friedrich August Heinrich Haehling von Lanzenauer
* 21. 11. 1899 in Freiburg im Breisgau
+ ??. ??. 1992 in ???
Sources: GHdA, 1984, p.180

Harmel once mentioned an Oberst Haehling von Lanzenauer with RDA 1/4/43 (61) who served in the HQ of V. Armee-Korps. http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 8#p1339438
Is your officer X receiving that evaluation somehow related to V. A.-K. too?

Great gentlemen, thanks to both of You. The funny thing is that I too know+have this other H. v. L but I simply forgot about him, so I wrongly thought that it was the General H. v. L., so thanks again for having opened my eyes + mind......
Re: death date of Gen. Haehling v. Lanzenauer
Hello again
puzzle remains valid as before ! I´ve checked and the officer X was 4.43 (from 12.42) active in the Sonderverband Brandenburg, so the only Ob. H. v. L. here possible who made the Beurteilung 4.43 is Paul (posth. Gen.Maj.), so death date wrong or what ???

Oberst Paul Haehling von Lanzenauer (1896-1943)
There are times in history when staying neutral means taking sides.
Re: death date of Gen. Haehling v. Lanzenauer
Re GM Paul Haehling von Lanzenauer – according to his Sterbeurkunde, he died on 08.02.1943 around 02:10 a.m. in the Neue Heilstätte Doktor Schröder in Schömberg (Landkreis Calw). The cause of death was simply given as "lung disease" (Lungenerkrankung) which is too generic to say which illness he precisely had.
