Status of GFM Leeb
Status of GFM Leeb
When Leeb was retired in February 1938, he received the Charakter als Generaloberst and changed from active status to a.D. He was later put z.V. in July 1938 and got the full rank of Generaloberst in November 1939. But when did he change back from z.V. to active service?

Re: Status of GFM Leeb
Yes, I know this, but he must have changed from z.V. to active at one point in 1939 or 1940.
01.01.1934 General der Artillerie (active)
28.02.1938 Charakter als Generaloberst (a.D.)
01.07.1938 Charakter als Generaloberst (z.V.)
01.11.1939 Generaloberst (?)
19.07.1940 Generalfeldmarschall (active)
He could have been reactivated simultaneously with his assignment as OB HGr C in August 1939, his promotion to full Generaloberst, his promotion to GFM or even at another, unknown point.

Re: Status of GFM Leeb
not according to Die Generale des Heeres by Bradley, Hildebrand & Rovekamp
Re: Status of GFM Leeb
I can not find in any of my sources a confirmed date for his reactivation - it is not shown on his "Generalskartei" or in the career summary in his published diary.
He was char Generaloberst zV when appointed OB HGr C and is listed in the DAL for May 1940 as a Generaloberst so it was before then.
Below is a copy of his promotion to Generaoberst
Leeb was given an RDA, which suggests that he was reactivated at that time.
But note that Haenicke was promoted Generalleutnant zV and not placed on the active list.
Regards
John

Just a thought, do we know about Rundstedt? When was he reactivated?
