Looking to ID this young man and any info about him that may help piece this puzzle together.

I know, but just "maybe" someone might recognize him :) I'll try and see if there is more info from family and hopefully narrow down the search.

This was also on the back of the previous photo. It is signed Franz Schreiber (at least that's what it looks like) for his son (my opa) to remember him by, would this be the Standartenführer Franz Schreiber 8 May 1904 – 26 February 1976? Unless there were other Franz Schreiber's in the SS Nord division. Could someone also explain his uniform to me as well, I see the edelweiss flower, everything else I do not know much to identify.
