Is this Hans von Luck?

#1

Post by FANGIO » 24 Jan 2015, 04:22

Hi everybody!
I was just watching BBC's "Secrets of World War II" documentary: Episode 6: What really happened to Rommel, and this image was shown of Rommel during the german campaign in France if I'm not wrong.
My great doubt is, could the Officer on the left of the image be Hans von Luck?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Best,

FANGIO

He was Führer of Panzeraufklärungs-Abteilung 37, 28.05.1940 - 00.07.1940 (Part of the 7. Panzer-Division)

Not only is it him, but it's even the cover photograph (*) for one version of his memoirs. See here:

(*) Slightly different angle and with a pair of field glasses around his neck, but very clearly the same series.
