Iron Cross for the retreat through the Arctic

#1

Post by krimsonglass51 » 16 Jul 2015, 23:29

Hello, to my knowledge, there were German troops who withdrew through Finnish Lapland (and Northern Norway) did receive the Iron Cross. SS officer Karl-Heinrich Brenner received the Knight's Cross for his leadership of 6th SS Nord during the retreat through Lapland. According to Wolf T. Zopef's book Seven Days in January, there were others who received some variant of the Iron Cross when they reached northern Norway. Does anyone know the names of other Wehrmacht or SS personnel that were awarded the Iron Cross as a result of actions during the withdrawal through the Arctic?
