Hello,

who knows more about this Austrian officer?

The only thing I've found was from http://forum.panzer-archiv.de/viewtopic ... 727#202727:
Hauptmann (E) 01.11.34 URBANEK Karl (Stab W.E.I. Niederdonau) Oberstleutnant (01.07.42)
Why did he become a Hauptmann (E)? As far as I understand the Vienna address books he must have been an active Austrian officer before 1938.

Best regards
Torsten

Urbanek Karl (20.01.1891 - 01.09.1943)

30.01.1926 Leutnant [12] (IR 6) [VBl. 4/1926]
30.01.1926 Oberleutnant (IR 6) [same date because until 1929 they did not make a difference in RDA]
01.11.1928 vers. als Olt. Vom IR 6 zur Kraftfahrkp. 6 [VBl. 19/1928]
01.05.1929 vers. zur Kraftfahrkp 1 [VBl. 5/1929]
21.04.1934 Silbernes Verdienstzeichen für tapferes und erfolgreiches Verhalten bei den Februarkämpfen [VBl. 10/1934]
28.12.1935 Hauptmann (1938: DKfAbt 1) [Schem1936]
15.10.1937 Militärdienstzeichen für Offiziere 2. Klasse [VBl. 12/1937]

DWM:
01.11.1934 Hauptmann E [5] (W.E.I. Niederdonau)
01.07.1942 Oberstleutnant [106]

SV, OD2, D3, ÖKM, ung.V.O.4.

Why (E)?

Most of the officers in W.E.I. and W.B.K. were installed as E-Offiziere in 1938. Some of them were transferred to DAL T or S later, others not.

Regards

Christian

Prima!!!

That provides all the details for his time in the Austrian Bundesheer. Now we only need information on his further career in the Wehrmacht.

Many thanks to you,
Torsten
