Hello all,

I am trying to find out more about Justus-Wilhelm von Oechelhaeuser, but I am having a lot of trouble in finding data on his military career. What I have found until now is just some basic elements:

Peace-time unit: Pz.Rgt. 6

01.__.1943 : Leutnant
__.__.1943 : Zugführer 6./Pz.Rgt. 23
01.__.1944 : Oberleutnant
07.12.1944 : Deutsches Kreuz in Gold as Oberleutnant in II./Pz.Rgt. 23
01.__.1945 : Hauptmann (?)
__.03.1945 : Kp.Chef (?) 8./Pz.Rgt. 23

After the war, he was president of the Ordensgemeinschaft Deutsches Kreuz in Gold

Can anybody supply me with other details (date and place of birth, date and place of death, awards, commands...)

Many thanks in advance,

Charles

Hello Jake,

Many thanks for the information. So he escaped Yugoslavian captivity ? His book "Wir zogen is das Feld" dedicated a chapter to it, but it was very difficult for me to see where the fiction stopped and the autobiographical details kicked in...

He was a very gifted writer and story teller... a shame he died a few years ago !

Cheers,

Charles
