Oberst Kahlen (IR 7 in 1940)

Hello Guy
I'm belgian and interested in Oberst Kahlen who's reaching Meuse with IR 7 on 13/14 may 1940. Can you confirm that, cos I never found his name anywhere in litterature as Bernhardt Kranz or Romuald Bergner books?
Do you think it's possible to find something about this period in RH 26-1012/1 Zg. II 164/59 "Entwurf für das Kriegstagebuch der Kampfgruppe Oberst Kahlen".
Many thanks for your reply.

Hello,

His first name is Friedrich Kahlen. He is a former austrian Officer. I have him listed as Kdr. IR 7 from 28.10.39 to 13.07.40.

Regards
Rudolf

Hello,

according to Rauchensteiner (1970, p.66) Oberst Kahlen commanded the northern sector of the Styrian border defences extending between Geschriebenstein and Kalch from late 1944 until Jan. 7th, 1945. I cannot tell if this is related to his previous assignment as commander of Wehrmeldeamt Fürstenfeld (Styria) (http://www.dokumentenforum.de/thread.ph ... e14207168a). With regard to the geography it seems very likely although the way Rauchensteiner paraphrases General Ringel's order you can get the impression the HQs of sectors North and South were different from Wehrmeldeämter.
