Hi
Bit baffled by Sigmund Budzyn! U boat archive gives date of Commander training of 10/43 to 11/44! Usual course is one month.
History Marine Archive has no record of Budzyn attending a course between these dates! Only registering the fact that he took command of U 2352 on 11/01/45!
What am I doing wrong??
Help as I need to know when course 70 took place.

You forget customarily the letter U when you are speaking of a certain german submarine!
You must pay more attention to this to be a proven expert - including these "peanuts" :milwink:

Hi Nobby,

I have worked day and night to find the answer for you! Finally, although still an amateur like you, I came up with the fact, that 70.KSL took place from 16 April to 31 May 1944.
Btw: ever heard about the famous German comedy film U 900? A must-see like U 571.

Cheers

Axel

Hi Axel
Wow you seem to know what you are talking about! Many thanks.U 571 and U 900 are very funny.
I posted emblem of U 298, I would like your to hear any of your humble comments please.
I may not be an expert but probably the only British member of this forum that has spent time on the Bonteheim, and you are correct, it was very cold!
Regards
Nobby

Nobby

Thank you for your kind words. Well, the 'Bonte-Heim' is now long gone. Did you know that the moviemakers of 'U 900' and 'U 571' did the same nasty mistake like you in misspelling the title numbers by hyphenating it on their advertising posters and video covers. Poor performance! I used it here just for reasons of proper citation. Right or wrong, keep correct. Sadly, U 900 was actually never ever even built unlike U 298, which can be seen on the pic posted by you.

Cheers

Axel

No 8 should be Oblt. Werner Brückner ( former Masch.Mt. U 125 / Obstm. U103 and at least Kdt. U 2351 )
