Re: Major i.G. Alfred Stelter
Dear Jan-Hendrik,
Mr. Stelter is still alive.
I can't add anything but I'm not sure if your Information is correct that he was part of the 229. ID.
He was awarded with the DKiG on 09.10.1943 as Hptm. & Kdr. PiBtl. 292 which belonged to the 292. ID.
Maybe transposed numbers.
Best regards
Pfälzer

Hello,
In the book "Die Dienstlaufbahnen d. Gen.St.Offzre." there is Stelter too, but funny it reads "05.42 Kp.Chef/i. Pi.Btl. 242", then "11.43 - 01.44 Kdr. Pi.Btl. 242". But as I too have Stelter Kdr. Pi.Btl. 292 I can only think that the data in the book is wrong (so 292 correct)
Also it reads "Dt. Kreuz i. Gold", but in Scheibert' s book with all holders Stelter is not listed. So,where come the data of his award from & is it officially confirmed/validated ?

Gentlemen,
There is no mentioning of any Alfred Stelter being awarded the DKiG in Patzwall & Scherzer (2001) either...

Re: Major i.G. Alfred Stelter
Once source for him as Kdr. Pi.Btl. 292 is the list of course attendees for 15. Generalstabslehrgang
The source for Kdr. Pi.Btl. 242 is the 1944 version of the Handliste. This also has DKiG added in manuscript with no date given, Die Dienstlaufbahnen is just a published copy of the Handliste.
His Beurteilung dated 26 January 1945 does not list any appointments but lists the following awards (without dates):
EK II, EK I, allg. Sturmabz, Verw.Abz. schwarz, Dt. Kreuz i. Gold
It was written after he completed the general staff officers course and recommends him for appointment as Ib of a division.
Regards
John

Re: Major i.G. Alfred Stelter
Well, I think that, if Mr. Stelter is still alive, he only can clarify+confirm that
1) he really was Kdr. Pi.Btl. 292 as it appears to be (and not 242)
2) he really was effectively+officially awarded (+ when) with the Dt. Kreuz in Gold.
Pfälzer (above) gives the date 09.10.43 for his award, where from did he get this date ?
Also, why is it not registered among the holders ? Maybe, in spite of the sources above reporting the award, was it later not officially confirmed or error by the editors ?

@ Rossano: I got this date from Mr. Stelter. He signed a sticker for me to put it in my book "Die Träger des Deutschen Kreuzes in Gold. Band I: Das Heer" by Horst Scheibert. Although he in fact is not mentioned in this book. I don't know why. He signed the sticker with the additive "Deutsches Kreuz in Gold, 9.10.1943, Hauptmann, Kdr. Pi.Btl. 292"

Re: Major i.G. Alfred Stelter
Hello Forum.
This is what I have found in Patzwall / Scherzer:
Stolter, Alfred; 8-10-1943; Hauptmann; 1./Pi.Btl. 292
Besides he is written in the Ehrenblatt der Wehrmacht as Stolter as well (I have a digital copy of it).
So, is it wrong written in P/S and in the Ehrenblatt der Wehrmacht?
Best regards.
Jordi

Re: Major i.G. Alfred Stelter
Hello Jordi
It is certainly a printing error (Stolter in the book "Träger d. dt. Kreuzes in Gold" wrong too)
His correct name is Stelter (so in his Karteikarte as well as in DAL 05.44 too, and officially confirmed by Pfälzer´s witness/evidence above.

Re: Major i.G. Alfred Stelter
What a typo in a book could leading to....
For sure Stelter as he told me his name when I met him at Munster Ehrenhain.
