Hi,

Dahlmann is too ill and does not reply. Bierbrauer injured his shoulder and is unable to write much. Broch is alive and well. Krems is very ill, and can't reply. I believe Stollnberger has passed away. Wilke died in 2007. I think Horst Hermann has also passed away.

Peter Spoden was still posting on the 12 O'Clock High forum in 2014 under his own name: http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/member.php?u=592. He last visited that site in June 2015. I'm not aware of his current state of health, but he has a website here: http://www.nachtjaegerspoden.de/

Use the online German phonebook (www.dastelefonbuch.de) and you might be able to find some of the men you are seeking. That method has often worked for me.

Cheers,
Andrew A.

Hi Andrew,

thank you so much for your reply and the link to Das Telefonbuch, it is a relief to know that I am now being steered in the right direction by someone with such detailed knowledge. Seeing that Herr Broch is alive and apparently still well, I will try and contact him, I have only been able to find one Hugo Broch in Das Telefonbuch, with the following address: Zedernweg 4, 51381, Leverkusen, Bergisch Neukirchen. Is this the correct address and do you know if he speaks English? My German is poor but I have some back up (two people I know who speak fluent German, one native, one non-native).

Also, do you happen to know of any other Luftwaffe fighter pilots who are (or might be) still alive? I will also need to know how I can contact some RAF and USAAF veterans (i.e. men like Tom Neil and Clarence E. "Bud" Anderson respectively).

Sorry to bombard you with questions like this, but time is running out and I am absolutely astounded that you have such detailed information about these gentlemen.

Thank you again!

Hi Sam,

You can contact Bud Anderson's son Jim via this website: http://www.cebudanderson.com/. Perhaps he can put you in contact with his father.

Bill Colgan flew many missions in the Mediterranean theatre: http://www.colgan-books.com/. I haven't corresponded with him in years, but there is no mention on his website that he's passed away.

Fritz Didsun flew some missions against the Soviets in 1945: http://www.didszun-fritz.de/

You could also contact the Gemeinschaft der Flieger, the German veteran airmen organization: https://fliegergemeinschaft.de/startseite/index.php. State exactly what your interest is, and perhaps they can put you in contact with some veterans. However, there are not too many left, and very few are able to help with answering questions about their wartime experiences.

I wish you good luck in your search, and hopefully someone else can provide you with additional assistance.

Cheers,
Andrew A.

Hi Andrew,

this is absolute gold, I can't thank you enough! Do you happen to know if the address I found for Hugo Broch is correct?

Sam
