Did Leon Dégrelle marry his daughter????

#1

Post by SS-Researcher » 17 May 2003, 12:30

Hi!
I just found the attached pic and it was sublined with a short statement saying that he married his daughter (wearing a Spanish uniform with SS-Staf. collar tabs). Was Dégrelle a sick-minded pervert?

Also I'd like to know if it is right that his last (official) rank was SS-Obersturmbannführer because there are these afterwar pics where he wears SS-Staf. collar tabs.

Thanks in advance and best wishes from Germany!

He seems to be walking her down the aisle. He was surely "marrying her off" (that is, giving her away at her wedding), but not marrying her himself!

Marcus,

I take info and pic from a book called "Degrelle m'a dit" by Duchesse de Valence which include numerous private pics of Degrelle in Spain.

Degrelle married his daughter Anne on 21 july 1962 at Constantina.
(he married in civilian clothes his second daughter on 9.10.69 Marie Christine to Madrid)

best

Degrelle was not a pervert
but more a provocator.
he is self confident and proud of his actions during war.
he wrote several books after the war in this way.

in pre war he was very active in Belgium : a "tribun" someone like JM LE PEN in France (for style in politic only)

As sylvieK4 has already pointed out, he was giving her away at her wedding to someone else, not marrying her himself.

confusion come to the word "married"

In France MARRIED means too conduct his son/daughter during the wedding
and not to take as wife/husband.

in "DIvision Wallonie sur la Baltique 1944 - 1945"

Jean Mabire states Himmler promoted him SS Standartenführer on 20 april 1945.
there is nothing in SS records which confirm this. (no fax, no letter)
may be may be not. Knowing Degrelle it could be an hoax.
this explain why he wore after the war at several occasions rank badge of SS Staf unless SS Ostubaf.

in his war memories ; the campaign of Russia (1949)
he write that during the last meeting with Himmler on 2 mai 1945 at Malente next to Lübeck, Himmler promoted him as SS Brigadeführer !

anyway on may 2 1945, Himmler was no more Reichsführer SS. He was discharge from all his duties by Hitler before he committed suicide.
So eventual SS promotion has no value.

So it means that officially he stayed in the rank of SS sturmbannführer.

AnDie,

Is it written SS-Obersturmbannführer d. R. der Waffen-SS???
I don't think that he was a SS...
He was more a member of the Waffen-SS.

He was a great soldier, a hero of your country and certainly not a pervert!!!

Degrelle was a member of the reserve of the Waffen-SS (Reserveführer der Waffen-SS), not an active member of the Waffen-SS (aktiver Führer).
