Himmler wearing pilots badge
Himmler wearing pilots badge
Just wondering what the heck Himmler is wearing in this photo, it appears to be a pilots badge, but is certainly
not one that was normally awarded, is this a one off presentation piece or something entirely different.... ??
Cheers

Re: Himmler wearing pilots badge
He is wearing the rare Combined Pilot/Observer Badge in Gold with Diamonds. It was presented to him by Göring. This was a special award given by Göring to special Luftwaffe personnel and Foreign Dignitaries as well as some special Reich leaders such as Himmler. It was Göring's personnel decoration. Around 80+ were presented from 1935 to 1945.

Re: Himmler wearing pilots badge
What's more interesting is the badge he is presenting in this photo.

Himmler is presenting the "Germanische Leistungsrune" for the first time on 01.02.1944 in the SS-Ausbildungslager Avegoor.
